What is the difference between what you do and others?

We take a unique approach to vision and eye health by holistically and dynamically assessing vision, mind and body as a complete unit, working on conscious and subconscious levels.

Our unique methodology, Quantum (Energy) Photo (Light) Somatics (Body Movement) (QPS) has been developed by Dr Michael Christian. QPS supports Optometry and is an endorsed and accredited field with the IICT (International Institute of Complementary Therapies) myiict.com.

It engages a real time integrative feedback system of many factors, making adjustments, counter checks and further adjustments through the process.

Light uniquely and appropriately refracted through lens and prism combinations support and change factors such as breath, posture, balance, muscles, energy, nerves, emotions, movement and body functions, which in turn aims to positively affect the eyes and vision.

Once we understand the wearers profile, we prescribe balanced, highly customised, activating lens and prism prescriptions. These lenses aim to change the way the wearers eye muscles work while supporting how the brain processes visual information.

Just as you work out your body with weights and movement, the glasses we prescribe act as a personal trainer for your eyes that are designed to work just by wearing them, without the hassle of boring and limited time-consuming eye exercises.

The lenses aim to also encourage improvement of health conditions that are linked to, being caused by or exacerbated by poor vision, while aiming to avoid the usual deterioration of vision commonly experienced by long-term glasses wearers. The eyes affect the mind and body, and the mind and body affect the eyes. Both need optimal support. These links and relationships are thoroughly investigated in depth for each person.

How do lenses and prism encourage positive visual change or improvement?

Just as good air, food and water provides integral fuel for the body, good light, presented correctly, provides integral fuel for vision and mind.

The function of your eyes has a flow on effect to the rest of your mind and body. Just as changing any nerve or muscle group in the body does.

Microprism integrative prescriptions are derived by focusing two eyes together in specific binocular refractive patterns for clear perspective and detail discrimination. In Microprism progressive lens manufacturing, the prism is located in unique non-traditional active locations to ensure clear, open, comfortable and dynamic vision. Microprism directional prisms (up, down, in and out summations) are located differently and affect eye muscles, changing eye shape and location and the perception of objects within a space. The internal shift on eye muscles via the incoming prism re-directed light, effects and brings into alignment and balance, how near, distance and perspective are observed. This ideal state of alignment brings ease to the optical, motor and sensory system and has a positive flow on effect to the rest of the body. Light feeds the whole biophotonic transduction system of the body.

When can I get an appointment?

Generally within a month. Best to call to check when the next specific appointment is available.

How much does it cost?

Appointments usually run for 60 minutes and can be partly bulk-billed (depending on your eligibility and Medicare’s regulations).

If you have a Medicare card, your Initial Appointment will cost between $120 and $180 (depending on the time required). If you don’t have a Medicare card, the appointment will cost $160.
If imaging is required the costs are:
Retinal Imaging = $50
OCT Scan = $70
Both together = $100

Our premium and customised Essilor progressive lenses start from $610, including integrated prism and all coatings.

All lenses at Microprism Optics are unique to the individual patient. Each Essilor lens with prism is recalculated for its exact positioning and effect in the lens using a specially designed prism calculator.
These lenses are digitally surfaced to reduce visual aberrations that shouldn’t be there, eg. off-axis astigmatism and distortion.

Frames range between $100 -$700

How long does the process take?

Appointments generally last at least an hour (other than 360 degree vision screening test and collection of prescription glasses). Please allow plenty of time around your appointment, as the nature of this work does not lend itself well to time constraints.

Depending on your initial script and conditions will depend on how long your whole process takes. This is best discussed with us during your first appointment and subsequent appointments.

When will I get my glasses?

Generally within two weeks.

When does vision improve and at what rate?

Vision improvement can be seen and experienced during an appointment, hours, to days after, and within 6 months, and generally checked every 6 months. Some move at faster or slower rates than others. For example stabilised improvement can occur in as little as two weeks to a month. It is important here to communicate and check in with us to actually confirm what you are experiencing during the changes, at any stage, to ensure stable progress.

Results can occur immediately during the initial consultation. For example, people who have never been able to read, suddenly are able to, people with high prescriptions have their prescription lowered, people with restricted movements can move. Changes can occur on many physical, mental and emotional levels throughout the whole process. Complete reduction of prescription or to the lowest possible can take between months to many years, depending on the initial prescription, the active engagement of the patient and their overall health. Reduction of the prescription in step increment normally occurs with each consultation, although there can be fluctuations throughout the process. The process is unique for each individual.

What can I claim through Medicare? Do you bulk bill?

Yes but we also charge a fee in addition.

Can I claim through private health insurance?

Yes

What are the warranties?

See our 100-day warranty

Can I bring my own frames?

Yes, if they are of good quality. We also have many frames to choose from. If you’re unsure, contact us!

What do I need to bring to the appointment?

Yourself, any frames you might want to use, your current glasses or script if you have one. It is not necessary to bring a frame. We have many to choose from.

Do I need a referral?

No

What is the best parking near your clinic?

Parking is available at the District Docklands or the outside car park opposite our building.

How do I get there via Public Transport?

Public Transport (86 Waterfront Tram from Southern Cross Station to our stop NewQuay STOP D10).

Who would benefit from this procedure?

People who are patiently and actively prepared to communicate and experience vision body change and not wanting quick symptomatic fixes.

What is experienced during the treatment process?

A change of vision, mind and body. Most sensations and experiences are pleasant and easeful. Some patients feel like their eyes are gently being massaged. Some changes require more work and integrative appointments to bring ease. Patience, perseverance, persistence and trust in these instances is required and helpful.

When should I come back for a retest?

Retests normally occur every six months. Change in vision is expected to occur within this time. However, if you experience any of the following at any stage, it’s time to give us a call to book a retest or another prism integration.

  • Blurry/unclear vision
  • Headaches or pain
  • Muscle tension or eye strain
  • You’re not sure whether your vision is better with glasses on or off
  • You feel your vision has gotten worse
  • You don’t want to wear your glasses
  • You’ve lost your glasses
  • Your glasses are broken or scratched or bent
Can the Microprism prescription lenses be made elsewhere?

We do not recommend that our lens and prism configurations be made elsewhere. We use a specific prism calculator (that is not used in other practices) that guarantees that prism is correctly positioned in primary gaze position, correlating to what was prescribed in the consulting room for our high quality progressive lenses. This is of prime importance, otherwise the integrative nature of the lenses will not work as intended. Our high quality, process control and tight tolerances to ensure exact requirements are met is well known and understood in our laboratories.

What is involved in a Microprism Optics QPS Test and Treatment?

First time patients at our Docklands clinic are asked to provide a thorough history of their health by completing our online questionnaire. This is discussed with the Optometrist and any issues that the patient is looking to have addressed. The consultation (for about one hour) will usually include a dynamic comprehensive visual QPS assessment, retinal photography, optical coherence tomography and corneal topography. During and after consultation, differences in vision, mind and body dynamics are experienced. If a patient wishes to proceed with new lenses, a frame is selected (either the patient’s own or from Microprism Optics) and the appropriate lenses selected. The new prescription lenses are normally ready for collection one to two weeks after order.  During the collection of prescription and dispensing appointment (about 20 minutes duration) a Prismatic Integration process occurs with the new frames and lenses and dynamic prism bars. This process is critical to the quick adaptation and clarity of vision, although some exercises can be provided via  a remote session. A follow up appointment normally occurs every six months to assess progress and whether new lenses are required,  usually with a reduced prescription. Patients can return for further integration in between collecting their new prescription glasses and their next follow up appointment if required.

What is good vision?

You can SEE! How do you SEE? What do you SEE? Vision is the perception of sight and its effect on being and motivation. Perception is unique to the individual and deals with consciousness, awareness and intent. Generally speaking, it is the ability to focus or lack thereof that is considered in optometric consultation. This is called Focal Vision. Logically one would consider Focal Vision to be responsible for all visual processes as to how things are perceived. What is not well known in the public arena, is that this is only one part of the Holography (entire picture) of vision. Another “vision” to consider is what is known as Ambient Vision. This deals with the focus AND spatial continuity of body, posture, balance, direction and movement. For the most part, this is subconsciously directed but can be consciously redirected when and where appropriate. Healthy Ambient Vision depends on communication between the conscious and subconscious domains of the body-dynamic with respect to Focal Vision. In other words good “vision” requires the mind and body to actively support it.

How do the prism and lenses look?

The prism and lens combinations look like an ordinary pair of prescription glasses. The prism used is Micro – meaning small.
